The Retreat
Eight self-contained lakeside chalets on 1.2 acres of landscaped grounds, directly opposite the Taupō Marina and a 3 to 4 minute drive from town.
The Retreat is a beautiful slice of Aotearoa offering a special experience for all, and their pets. Whether you’re a young family taking a break from the pace of normal life, a group of friends here for everything the lake has to offer, or a couple getting away to spend time together, this is lakeside accommodation in Taupō that feels like your own.
Each chalet sleeps 4 to 5 comfortably and up to 7. Chalets are rented individually, but we’re also happy to accommodate bookings for multiple chalets or larger groups.
Our accommodation manager lives on site and is happy to assist with any aspect of your stay.
The Chalets
Every chalet is self-contained across two levels, so you can come and go as you please. Downstairs is a full-size kitchen, lounge, dining area, laundry and a private deck with its own BBQ. Upstairs are two bedrooms, each with a full-size ensuite. The master has a king-size bed, a desk and views over the lake. Light the wood-burning fire for ambience or run the heat pump for convenience.
Chalets 5 to 8 were fully refurbished in August 2026, and every chalet has new furniture. It’s chalet accommodation in Taupō with room for the whole family to spread out, and somewhere that feels like yours at the end of the day.
Pool, Spa Pools and Private Lake Access
Beyond your deck, the grounds are yours to enjoy. Wander the lawns under century-old trees, step straight onto Lake Taupō from our private lake access, or head to the Pool House for the indoor heated pool and two large spa pools, open year-round.
